A problem which led to thousands of tonnes of raw sewage flooding into Dublin Bay is being described as "shocking".
Irish Water says its teams are working to fix a failure at one of its tanks in Ringsend, which spewed sludge into the sea on Saturday.
The problem began at around 9am.
Irish Water said the tank "was isolated and repairs are now progressing".
It has said that an investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
Ringsend Sewage Problems
Works to upgrade the treatment plant started a year ago, to try and meet demand from Dublin's growing population.
Green Party leader Eamon Ryan says it's not acceptable that the public weren't told to stay out of the sea at the weekend:
"Even at this time of year, even in that cold water out there Dubliners are swimming in the bay".
He asked "Why did Irish Water not tell Dubliners to stay out of the water at the weekend?"
"That's the real question", he said.
