The board of the Rehab Group is to meet today to discuss revealing the pay of the charity's chief executive.

The group has been under pressure to reveal Angela Kerins' salary since news first emerged of the unexpectedly low profits made from its scratchcard lottery.

Up until now Rehab has always refused to reveal Ms Kerins' salary, arguing that over half of its funding comes from private sources.

But with growing public demands for more transparency in the charity sector, and with a PAC hearing on Rehab's funding before the end of the month, the salary could be revealed today.

Last year its total state funding was over 80 million euro, and the charity is likely to feel that it's better to reveal the salary, than to deal with further public anger by continuing to hide it.

But irrespective of whether the salary is revealed, there's little that can be done to change it, as the government admits it can't enforce its public pay cap on so-called 'Section 39' agencies.
