There's been a huge rise in the level of aggression at protests in Dublin according to the senior Garda in charge of policing the city.
Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis says there have been 291 demonstrations so far this year but the number of anti-immigrant protests appears to be falling.
She told Dublin city council's joint policing committee yesterday that there's been 75 of them since January. That compares to 130 demonstrations related to Israel and Palestine according to the Irish Daily Star.
Last year there were 73 anti-immigrant protests in the first six weeks alone.
Assistant Commissioner Willis says a special operation has been set up to monitor protests, codenamed Carrageen.
