Protester says people embarrassed by homelessness

Homeless families and families at risk of homelessness have held a protest outside the Dáil in Dublin.

They're calling for rent controls, the building of new affordable homes and an end to discrimination against people on rent allowance.

One of those who initiated the protest, Gwen Connell, said people are embarrassed and the situation is not their fault. 

She said she was forced out of her home with her children due to a €400 rent hike some months ago:
