A protest rally in Omagh today has heard paramilitary violence must be "consigned to the dustbin of history".
Hundreds gathered in the County Tyrone town, following the attempted muder of senior police officer John Caldwell.
He was shot repeatedly in front of his son and other young people, while volunteering at a football club on Wednesday night.
Speaking at today's rally, Pádraig Mulholland from the trade union NIPSA said they want to sent a clear message to those engaging in violence:
