Dublin city councillors are to vote on plans to rezone industrial land for housing tonight.

Last year the local authority proposed 20 plots to undergo a change in use, that would allow the sites to be used for residential developments.

Among the sites earmarked for rezoning is land at East Wall.

However after concerns were raised that the plans for the 11 acre plot could jeopardize plans to link up the M50, the proposal has been shelved.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Office of the Planning Regulator raised concerns the proposal could prejudice the delivery of the M50 South Port Access, or possibly impact on future upgrade works to the tunnel.

Meanwhile, the council was also warned about plans to rezone a site in Kilmainham over flood risks. It's decided to hold off on changing the land use until a flood alleviation scheme is put in place.

More than 280 submissions were made to the local authority on the plans to rezone land.
