The Prison Service is investigating claims an inmate made two attempts to take his own life in one of the city's biggest jails.
It's understood the man in his early 20's deliberately injured himself on Saturday morning, after his girlfriend was denied access to the prison.
After being seen by medical staff he was returned to a cell where he later made a second attempt.
He was in a serious condition but it's undertood he's now out of danger.
