Portmarnock beach is among those beaches deemed not clean in a new survey.
It was given a 'littered status' by the Irish Business Against Litter Group.
However, Killiney Beach, Grand Canal Dock and Skerries Beach were all deemed clean.
Spokesperson Conor Horgan says there were also some improvements for the River Tolka which was previously a litter blackspot.
He said. ''That's been a dumping ground for prams and tyres and all sorts of material. The Local Authority has clearly done work there and the litter we are now seeing there is more conventional litter, like plastic bottles and sweet wrappers. That's a major change.''
