Politicians in Europe have rejected calls to make abortion a human right.
A report asked for terminations to be made "legal, safe, and accessible to all" in the public health systems of every EU member state.
MEPs gathered in Strasbourg today, and narrowly voted against the idea.
Eight of the 12 Irish MEPs involved in the vote opposed the suggestion.
