Water supply in the greater Dublin area may see disruption today and tomorrow as a large water main is repaired.
Uisce Éireann says the pipeline is likely to burst if it's not fixed potentially causing an outage lasting weeks that could affect up to 1.7 million people.
Customers in Dublin and parts of Wicklow and Kildare may experience supply disruption as it repairs the water main that connects the Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant and the Saggart Reservoir.
It supplies about one third of the drinking water for the Greater Dublin Area.
People are being asked to conserve water and could see low pressure, discolouration and outages.
Mark O’Duffy from Uisce Éireann says it's a complex and challenging project due to the size, age and location of the pipe;
"Specialist teams will work as quickly as possible through the night and day to complete the repairs and restore normal water supply. However, there may be a risk of supply interruptions while this work is being carried out and for a period of time afterwards".
