A man in his 30s has died after being hit by a lorry in Dublin. It happened at Kilshane Cross in Newtown at around 9:30pm last night.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was brought to Dublin City Morgue.
Gardaí said the lorry driver did not need immediate medical attention.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage.
Appeal
A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí at Finglas are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a lorry and pedestrian that occurred at Kilshane Cross, Newtown on Wednesday, 18th October, 2023.
"Shortly after 9:30pm, Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted after a male pedestrian (late 30s) was struck by a lorry on the R135 at Kilshane Cross.
"He was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body has since been removed to the Dublin City Morgue. The driver of the lorry did not require immediate medical treatment.
"The road at the crash site is closed for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and traffic diversions are in place.
"Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. They are also appealing to any road users who were travelling in the Kilshane Cross area and have camera footage, including dash cam recordings, to make this available to them.
