A Palmerstown man has been found guilty of murdering a security worker five years ago.
Criostoir MacCartaigh of An Gleann was sentenced to life behind bars for killing David Whyte, who was stabbed over 100 times.
On September 26th 2008, a passerby stumbled upon Mr. Whyte's body while out walking his dog near a graveyard at the end of Mill Lane in Palmerstown.
A post mortem revealed he died after being stabbed over 100 times - the most serious of which cut the jugular vein in his neck.
During his murder trial, the court heard how Criostoir MacCartaigh got into a row with Mr. Whyte, who just happened to be walking along Ulster Street in Phibsboro when his killer left a house party.
MacCartaigh's friend told the court he spotted the victim lying on the ground while the 36-year-old crouched over him with a knife.
He then helped him move the body to the old cemetery where MacCartaigh continued to stab him before dumping his body.
A jury found him guilty of murder today and he has been sentenced to life behind bars.
