Six point six million euro worth of goods are stolen from cars every year.
Tablet computers, laptops and mobile phones are the most commonly stolen items but Gardai say that last year alone more than 1 million euro was stolen from parked cars.
They have launched a major initiave to help prevent this type of crime.
