More than 2,000 eviction notices have been issued by landlords since the start of the year.
Despite an emergency ban on evictions during level five lockdowns, 352 notices were issued during the first three months of 2021, the Irish Independent reports.
The figure doubled to 841 during quarter two and again increased in quarter three to 887 according to figures from the Residential Tenancies Board.
More than half of landlords said plans to put the property up for sale was the reason for the eviction.
While almost 500 notices were issued because landlords or their family wanted to move in.
