The Orange wind warning comes into effect at 2am on Friday morning and will last until 5pm that day. The weather organisation says there is the potential for fallen trees, damage to power lines and power outages, structural damage and very difficult travelling conditions.
Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly says it looks like the most significant storm since Storm Ophelia in 2017;
"Now I'm not saying it will be as bad as Ophelia for some areas but it could be. There is a possibility that it will be close to that."
