A multi-agency operation is underway on Mount Street to clear "tent city".
The area around the International Protection Office has been closed off, with barriers erected and there's a large garda presence as asylum seekers are moved off the street.
Around 200 people have been camped outside the IPO, with tents snaking around the building. Residents and local businesses are among those who have raised concerns about the issue.
A joint operation between the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, the Department of Justice, Gardaí and Dublin City Council is underway this morning. The Office of Public Works and the HSE are also involved.
Yesterday the Taoiseach said the asylum seekers involved will be offered safe shelter elsewhere and that "makeshift shanty towns" won't be allowed to develop in the area in the future.
He made the remarks while it was confirmed Cabinet approved emergency proposals to send asylum seekers back to the UK if they arrive here from the North.
Officials say those affected are being moved to International Protection Accommodation Service-designated accommodation.
They say it has toilets and showers; health services; indoor areas where food is provided; facilities to charge phones and personal devices; access to transport to and from Dublin City Centre; and 24 hour onsite security.
