A radical new traffic plan being drawn up by Dublin City Council would see the north quays reduced to one lane for cars.
It's to facilitate a new two-way bike lane envisioned for the capital.
Dublin City Council chief Owen Keegan - who's nick-named the 'traffic czar' - says a dedicated cycle lane will encourage more people to ditch the car in favour of two wheels.
Speaking to the Irish Times, the move is in a bid to increase bike journeys by four percent to 10 percent by 2020.
The proposal sees a two way cycle lane introduced on the north quays, meaning drivers would be restricted to using just one lane.
Details are still being drawn up and a formal plan is to be brought before the council in the coming weeks.
