One Person A Day Is Testing Positive For HIV

One person a day is testing HIV positive here in Ireland

That's according to the Dublin AIDS Alliance who say that numbers should be lower because it is a preventable illness.

Gay and bisexual men accounted for nearly half the 165 new HIV cases in the first six months of the year.

Today is world AIDS day - The Gay and Lesbian Equality Network, GLEN, says it is concerned about these increasing rates of HIV infection.

A gathering to highlight the issue took place in Dublin's Front Lounge Bar.

Meanwhile, the UN says doctors are successfully battling AIDS, but discrimination against sufferers is still a problem.
