Motorists will soon be allowed a third chance to pay their penalty points, under a new system to be introduced later this year.
Drivers currently have 28 days to pay their initial 80 euro fine, then a further 28 days to pay an increased fine of 120 euro.
If they fail to pay the second notice, they will be brought before the courts.
Under the new system, motorists will be given a third chance before appearing in court.
