New electric hybrid buses have arrived in Ireland which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30 percent.
They are to be rolled out in Dublin and Galway early in the new year.
These 10 new double-decker buses are the first of an initial order of 100.
They will be used by Dublin Bus on four routes and by Bus Eireann for Galway City services.
The NTA says the vehicles are capable of running in zero tailpipe emission mode for a distance of at least two and a half kilometers.

Chief Executive of the National Transport Authority, Anne Graham, says this is a further commitment to the transition to zero and low emission vehicles.
The new fleet will also clearly mark out designated seating for vulnerable passengers.
Chief Executive of Dublin Bus Ray Coyne says this is only the beginning of electric hybrid services being introduced.
Fewer people are using public transport now due to Covid-19 restrictions, but the NTA expects demand to return pre-pandemic levels within the next two years.
