New COVID restrictions in Dublin will be in place by the weekend.
The cabinet is set to meet tomorrow to consider advice from NPHET, which met this morning.
It's likely to recommend Dublin move to level three restrictions with some variations or additions expected.
Colleges and universities are to be told to carry out as much work online as possible for anyone starting a course in the coming weeks.
People will also be stopped from leaving Dublin except for limited, essential reasons.
Testing
In the Dáil this afternoon Tánaiste Leo Varadkar also warned there may be changes to the testing regime and criteria if cases continue to rise:
"We also need to be frank with people.
"Capacity is not unlimited.
"Let's not pretend capacity can be ramped up to an infinite figure.
"So there may be periods as we go on that the criteria around testing might be changed, so we focus on testing those most likely to test positive."
