A new body has been set up to control the level of noise by planes at Dublin Airport.
Fingal County Council says the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority will assess the noise generated by aircraft.
It'll ensure it abides by EU and Irish legislation, after a new act came into effect yesterday.
It means the Competent Authority has to ensure the application of the International Civil Aviation Organisation Balanced Approach to aircraft noise management, where a noise problem or potential noise problem at the Airport is identified.
Engineering, technical and administrative support has also been put in place.
