A quarter of the murders committed so far this year have been linked to orgranised crime.
According to the Irish Independent, there's been a rise of 26 percent in the murder toll from January to May compared to the same period last year.
Twenty four people have been murdered so far this year with 15 killings carried out in the Dublin region.
Firearms including a machine gun were used in 10 of the incidents while knives were involved in 7 deaths.
