A murder investigation is underway as Gardaí try to uncover a motive for an attack on a man in west Dublin.
Adnan Asic was violently assaulted while walking towards Blanchardstown Road North coming from the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At approximately 2.50 am, Gardaí received reports of a man with unexplained injuries on the Old Navan Road in Mulhuddart.
The 60-year-old was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination has been carried out on his body but Gardaí are not releasing the results for operational reasons.
Originally from Bosnia, Adnan Asic had lived in Ireland for over 30 years.
An incident room has been set up at Blanchardstown Garda Station and an appeal for information is continuing.
Anyone who was in the vicinity of Blanchardstown Road North at the junction with the Old Navan Road or the N3 (Mulhuddart) Flyover and surrounding areas between 2 am and 3 am on Saturday is being asked to contact Gardaí.
