A garda from Pearse Street was back on duty last night - despite being rammed and knocked from his motorbike just hours earlier.
31 year old Garda Peter O'Brien gave chase when he spotted what appeared to be a man armed with a shot-gun, in a car on Lennox Street in Portobello - but he ended up in hospital with a leg injury, after the car reversed into him.
Reinforcements arrived as the driver fled on foot and jumped into a passing taxi.
Two people were later arrested and were being questioned at Kevin Street Garda station overnight in connection with a string of burglaries in the area.
