More than 550 homes planned for Dublin's newest town have been given the go-ahead.
Cairn Homes will be the lead developer at Clonburris, a new suburb just 13km from the city centre. The developer plans to build 5,500 of the 9,000 that are expected to come on stream over the coming years.
The first 569 units will include 173 houses, 148 duplexes and 248 apartments. A creche, two local parks and children’s play areas, together with a green link alongside Fonthill Road, will also be delivered as part of this first phase.
It comes after 382 social, affordable purchase and cost rental homes were recently given the green light at the Strategic Development Zone, which sits between Lucan, Clondalkin and Liffey Valley. Construction is expected to begin early next year.
It comes after the government approved €186 million in funding for infrastructure for the new town that will eventually have the capacity to house 23,000 people. That's a population equivalent to Naas and Kilkenny city.
