Businesses on Moore Street have objected to plans for another betting shop.
Ladbrokes wants to open an outlet on the historic street, taking over the last cafe. It comes as Ann's Bakery and Restaurant is due to close.
Moore Street is famous for it's open-air fruit and vegetable market but the area has been in decline for a number of years.
Business owners say anti-social behaviour is a problem with open drug dealing and drinking taking place.
Stephen Troy, who owns the local butchers, says there are already three bookies operating in the vicinity.
He says Moore Street has been let go to rack and ruin, with plans to develop the street's 1916 Easter Rising monument still up in the air;
"Its 2020 now and nothing has been done at all, there hasn't been a brick moved to try and restore the area.
So that contributes to anti-social behaviour and the dereliction, you know anybody walking from each end of the street would believe there's nothing down there because all they can see is a lot of closed shops."
