The Taoiseach and seven senior ministers contacted council housing departments on behalf of their constituents at least 600 times last year.
In one case, Leo Varadkar's office got in touch with Fingal County Council about a family who had shots fired at their home.
According to figures in today's Irish Independent, the Taoiseach's office contacted the local authority in Fingal 40 times in 2019 on behalf of constituents concerned about their housing situation.
Staff for Finance Minister Paschal Donohue got in touch with Dublin city council 126 times, while Children's Minister Katherine Zappone made representations to the local authority in South Dublin, on 80 occasions.
The cases involved people who feared they would become homeless, long waits on the housing list, concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour and families living in overcrowded accommodation.
A family of six living in a two bed apartment was raised with the city council.
Homeless figures
It comes as official figures for December put the number in emergency accommodation below 10,000 for the first time since February last year.
The drop of over 700 people is also one of the largest since records began six years ago. The total number of people officially homeless now stands at 9,731.
