The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular has been charged with his murder.
Rosdeep Kular is also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The 33-year-old was remanded in custody, following an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Mikaeel's body was found on Friday night, two days after his mother had reported him missing.
Hundreds of people have been leaving tributes including candles, toys and flowers near his home.
