Two men in their 20's are due in court later to be charged in connection with an attempted armed raid.
It happened in the west of the city yesterday morning.
Shortly before 10.30am, two men stormed into a Post Office on the Clonsilla Road, armed with a gun and a hammer.
They threatened staff before fleeing the scene empty handed on a motorbike.
A massive garda manhunt was launched involving the traffic corps and the Regional Support Unit.
About 40 minutes later officers intercepted two men in their 20s on the M6 near Kilbeggan in County Westmeath.
They were arrested and charged - and are due before Blanchardstown District Court later this morning.
