Plans for a 200 million euro expansion of Dublin Port have been lodged.
10 hectares of land on Bull Island would be given to the city council as part of the project.
If given the go ahead this major redevelopment project would allow cruise ships to be brought up as far as the east link and passengers numbers would treble to 320 thousand a year.
It would also allow the port to accommodate the largest freight vessels in use.
The plan include building more than 3 kilometres of berths anda deepwater channel 10 kilometres out into Dublin bay.
If approved, the project could be completed by 2019 and 200 construction jobs created.
As part of a community gain proposal the port land on Bull Island would be given to the council.
