Mary Hanafin is to contest the local election for Fianna Fail in the Blackrock ward in Dublin, despite the fact the party doesn't want her to.
The former Minister's confirmed she is running after being asked to by Fianna Fail headquarters.
However the party later performed a u-turn and asked her to withdraw her nomination papers which were lodged at the start of the long weekend.
Mary Hanafin's confirmed that the party leader Micheal Martin asked her to withdraw 3 times over the course of the weekend, but says she's standing firm and will run on the Fianna Fail ticket alongside Chairperson of Ogra Fianna Fail Kate Feeney
