Right to die campaigner Marie Fleming has been laid to rest.
Hundreds turned out at the small country church in county Wicklow to say their final farewell.
59 year old Marie Fleming suffered with Multiple Sclerosis.
Earlier this year she took a case to the Supreme Court challenging the ban on assisted suicide, arguing that it breached her constitutional right to die and discriminated against her as a person with disabilities.
Marie later lost the case.
She passed away in the arms of her partner Tom at their home in Co. Wicklow on Friday morning.
Hundreds turned out for her funeral service will this afternoon at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Castlemacadam.
Her partner Tom spoke of their life together, saying he was not only her partner, but her carer and lover.
Tom spoke of the Marie Fleming initiative which is to be launched in association with the hospice.
The goal is to provide terminally ill people who want to live every last breath in the comfort of their own homes, the support and tools necessary.
