A personal trainer who stored cocaine in his house on behalf of a criminal gang has been jailed for eighteen months.
Gardaí also found thousands of euro when they raided the man's Dublin home on April 19th 2018.
Gardaí secured a warrant to search the home of Elmir Habibovic at Woodvale Avenue in Hartstown, Dublin on the back of a tip-off.
They found €25,000 of cocaine in a drawer in a dining room table. Almost €6,000 in cash was found in three separate envelopes in his bedroom.
Debt
The personal trainer claimed he only agreed to hold the drugs in order to pay off a €15,000 gambling debt.
In court today, Judge Elma Sheehan said she found it hard to believe his explanation given that he had sufficient savings to pay off such a debt.
She said his engagement in the drug trade was therefore for financial gain.
She sentenced him to three years in prison but suspended the final 18 months.
