A young man who helped a gang carry out what a judge described as the 'vicious, cold-blooded murder' of a father-of-two in Dublin has been jailed for eight years.

Matthew Bell, of Ambervale, Cookstown, Dublin, provided them with one of the getaway cars used in the gangland hit.

John Gibson died on September 18th 2017 after being shot five times outside Citywest Shopping Centre in what the court heard was part of a drug related feud between rival gangs.

Matthew Bell assisted by providing those responsible with a second getaway car, which was used to take them from the site where the first car was set on fire.

The second getaway car belonged to Matthew Bell’s parents so it was easy for gardai to trace it back to him.

He was described as an 'essential cog' in the murder and the judge said he gave the killers the assurance they needed to get away from the scene afterwards.

He described it as a 'vicious, cold-blooded murder,' and in handing down an eight-year prison sentence, he said people must be deterred from committing this type of crime.
