A man has been arrested at Dublin Airport in connection with an investigation into human trafficking.
The man in his 50s was detained last night as part of an ongoing international investigation into organised crime relating to human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, money laundering, and fraud.
He's being held at a west Dublin garda station where he can be questioned for up to a week.
A garda spokesperson says: "On the 16th of November 2023, a man in his 50s was apprehended by Gardaí from the Human Trafficking Investigation and Coordination Unit at the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB).
"This arrest is part of an ongoing international investigation into organised criminal activity relating to human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, money laundering, and fraud.
"The arrest operation took place at Dublin Airport, and the detained individual is currently held at a west Dublin Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007. He may be detained for up to seven days.
