A man in his 40's has been shot dead in the capital this evening.
It happened on the Ballycoolan Road in Finglas at around 5 o'clock.
Gardaí believe he was shot on the road by a lone gunman.
He was taken to the Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the Ballycoolin Rd is currently closed from the PremierBusinessPark to the Cappagh Road.
This section of Road is expected to remain closed overnight.
