A man has gone on trial for the murder of his flatmate on the northside just over one year ago.
Jacky Lumi is accused of killing Kamal El Habsati at an apartment they shared at Santry Cross in Ballymun.
El Habsati's body was found a few days after he was stabbed to death on December 1st 2012.
At the time, he was living and working with Jacky Lumi, but the court heard relations between the two men had broken down.
As a result, Kamal decided to move out and it's the prosecution's case that his housemate attacked him when he started to pack up his belongings.
The alarm was raised several days later after both men failed to show up for work.
The door of their apartment was forced open and Kamal was found dead inside with a knife in his throat.
It later emerged that Mr. Lumi had returned to the Netherlands but he agreed to come back to Ireland where he was charged with murder.
Today, the Dutch national averted his gaze downwards as the prosecution opened its case against him.
The trial is due to take at least a week.
