A man has been handed a prison sentence of five years and three months for laundering money for the Kinahan cartel.
Jonathan Harding, of Kerdiff Avenue, Naas, Co Kildare, is already serving a sentence in relation to the discovery of a significant stash of guns in Dublin.
13 Bank Accounts Were Frozen
A money laundering investigation was launched after gardaí found certain financial documents during a search of Jonathan Harding’s home in 2017.
The search came on the back of the discovery of fifteen machine guns and over a thousand rounds of ammo in a business unit in west Dublin.
Harding was arrested after being spotted leaving the unit and was later jailed for nine years.
Thirteen bank accounts linked to him and his girlfriend, Carol Davis, were frozen as part of the follow-up investigation.
Both pleaded guilty to money laundering offences.
Today, Harding was handed a custodial sentence of five years and three months, which will run alongside the one he’s already serving, but was structured in such a way that will see him spend extra time behind bars.
Davis, with an address at Clonmacnoise Road, Crumlin, admitted giving him access to her account, but denied any knowledge of wrongdoing.
She was handed a fully suspended three year sentence today.
