A 23-year-old man will appear in court this morning charged with an assault and burglarly which left a 69-year-old man seriously injured.
The alarm was raised just before 1.30am yesterday morning, at a house on St. Anthony's Road, Rialto.
When Gardaí arrived they found the 69-year-old man with serious head injuries. He's being treated at St James's Hospital.
A 23-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards nearby on the Herberton Road.
He's being held at Kilmainham Garda Station - and will be brought before the Criminal Courts of Justice at half past ten this morning.
