A man is due before the Dublin District Court this morning in connection with a serious assault on a garda in Ballymun.
On Saturday morning at around half eleven, Gardai responded to reports about dangerous driving at Gulliver's Retail Park.
As an officer was arresting a man, he was attacked.
The garda appears to have been bitten and suffered bad injuries to his hand and fingers.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown for serious but non life threatening injuries.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors condemn the atttack, saying being a garda has become increasingly dangerous .
A man in his 30s is due in court this morning in connection with the incident.
A vicious &horrific attack on a @gardainfo colleague…incidents like this must be condemned or we run the risk of normalising this type of assault on @AGSI_Ireland & @gardarep colleagues…thoughts remain with him for his recovery..our job has become an increasingly dangerous one https://t.co/cxIWzRdjek
