Gardaí have charged a man in connection with vandalism to Dublin's Luke Kelly statue.
The sculpture on Guild Street in the north inner city was only unveiled by President Michael D Higgins last January, in memory of the late Dubliner's singer.
But since then it's been targeted by vandals seven times.
The latest incident happened on Sunday evening when blue paint was sprayed across the marble head.
Gardaí investigating criminal damage to the statue arrested a man in his 40's yesterday.
He has since been charged in relation to the incident and is due before the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am this morning.
Dublin city council said yesterday that it can not rule out removing the statue on either a temporary or permanent basis.
A second statue of the folk musician on South King Street was damaged with paint last month.
