Man Dies In Multi-Vehicle Collision On Northside

A man has died in a three vehicle collision in north Dublin.

The incident at Blakes Cross happened just before 10 o'clock this morning.

The man in his 60s, who was driving one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman, who was an occupant in another vehicle, has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The R129 at Blakes Cross is closed, and gardai are appealing for witnesses.

A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision near Blakes Cross in North Dublin.

"The collision, which involved three vehicles, occurred on the R129 at Thomondstown shortly before 10:00am this morning, Friday 31st January 2025.

"The male driver of one vehicle (aged in his 60s) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The female occupant of another vehicle was taken to hospital with what are understood to be non-life threatening injuries.

"The R129 is currently closed at Blakes Cross to facilitate a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the vicinity of Blakes Cross and Thomondstown this morning, Friday 31st January 2025, between 9.30am and 10.00am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Balbriggan Garda station on 01 666 4500, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
