A man has died and a woman has been left critically injured following two separate road crashes in Mayo and Dublin.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both incidences to come forward.
At around a a quarter to 12 today, a cyclist in his 40s died when his bike collided with a car on the Ballaghadreen Road, about a mile outside Ballyhaunis in Co. Mayo.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was taken to Mayo General with non life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene.
Elsewhere in Dublin, a 19 year old woman is fighting for her life in hospital, after she was hit by an articulated lorry in the city centre this morning.
It happened at Cork Hill just before 7am.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to both incidences to come forward.
