A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his mother in Dublin at the weekend.
61-year-old Brendan Murray, with an address at Kincora Court in Clontarf, went before a special sitting of Dublin District Court yesterday evening.
He was charged with the murder of his 88-year-old mother, Neasa Murray, at the same address on Sunday evening.
His solicitor, Michael French, said his client would need an urgent psychiatric assessment on arrival at Cloverhill Prison.
He said he may have to be transferred elsewhere.
Judge John Brennan granted legal aid and remanded Mr Murray in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday via videolink.
