An 18 year old man charged in connection with an alleged incident at the Phoenix Park a week ago has insisted “it was not some sort of attack on the gay community.”
Reece Murphy, of Rowlagh Avenue, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 appeared before Dublin District Court this morning.
Reece Murphy is accused of four charges.
They are producing a hammer, violent disorder and two counts of dangerous driving on June 17th.
The court heard he made no reply under caution.
There was no objection to bail, which was granted under strict conditions.
Mr Murphy had to surrender his passport, and was asked to sign on three times at his local Garda station.
During proceedings, Mr Murphy’s solicitor Wayne Kenny told the court that his client wished to say ‘he is not in any way homophobic’, and that this was not ‘some sort of attack on the gay community.’
He'll appear in court again in September.
