Diego Costa Silva (32), of Charlestown Place in North Dublin, has appeared in Dublin District Court, charged with the murder of his wife at their home in Finglas.
Fabiole Camara de Campos, also 32, was found with serious injuries to the head and neck in the Finglas apartment on Thursday morning.
Fabiole, who was originally from Brazil, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her husband, also from Brazil, appeared before Dublin District Court this morning charged with her murder.
It was reported earlier this week that Mr Costa Silva had been arrested earlier this week due to “erratic behaviour” – but was released after being assessed by a doctor.
Judge Grainne Malone granted legal aid and recommended that he receive psychiatric treatment in custody
Mr Costa Silva was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison.
He will appear before court again next Friday via video link.
