Gardai investigating a violent burglary in Terenure last night have arrested a man in his 30s.
The break-in happened on Fortfield Road, when a man in his 60s answered a knock at the door of his home at around half past nine.
At least four masked men forced their way into the house, assaulted the man in front of his teenage son and demanded cash.
The gang fled the scene when the man's wife returned home, and emergency services were called.
The victim was taken to St James Hospital where he's been treated for non life threatening injuries.
Gardai responding to the alarm, stopped a red van near the scene and arrested the driver in his 30s.
They're appealing for anyone who may have seen something suspicious around Fortfield Road, Lavarna Road and Kimmage Cross Roads to get in touch with them.
