A man has been arrested in Dublin in connection with a garda investigation into alleged bogus tradesmen.
Detectives from Cabinteely arrested the man in his 50s yesterday.
The investigation was launched after a man in his 70s handed over a substantial sum of cash to alleged bogus tradesmen for roofing works on a house in the South East Dublin area.
The man arrested yesterday has been released and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
Gardai say the investigation is continuing.
A garda spokesperson says: "A man in his 50s was arrested by Detectives based at Cabinteely Garda Station on Wednesday 3rd May, 2023 as part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of alleged bogus tradesmen.
"An investigation commenced after a man in his 70s handed over a substantial sum of cash to alleged bogus tradesmen for roofing works on a residential property in the South East Dublin area.
"The arrested male was detained at a Garda Station in County Dublin under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. He has since been released from Garda custody and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
"The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow."
