A man has been arrested in North County Dublin as part of an ongoing operation by the Organised Prostitution Investigation Unit.
Gardaí seized cash, mobile phones and other items during the investigation yesterday.
Officers say the investigation is into people suspected of being involved in the organisation of prostitution, brothel keeping and money laundering in the greater Dublin area.
The man in his 30s who was arrested is detained in a Dublin City Garda Station under organised crime legislation.
A garda spoksperson says: "Yesterday, Tuesday 28th November 2023, Gardaí arrested one man and seized cash, mobile phones and other items as part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Organised Prostitution Investigation Unit of the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB).
"The investigation is into persons suspected of being involved in the organisation of prostitution, brothel keeping and money laundering in the greater Dublin area.
"The man in his 30s arrested as part of this investigation is currently being detained in a Dublin city Garda station under organised crime legislation.
"During the course of a follow-up search in the North County Dublin area, €11,060 in cash was seized along with 13 mobile phones and various documents.
"This ongoing GNPSB investigation is focused on victim identification and intervention along with the dismantling of this transnational organised crime group through the removal and seizure of assets and the prosecution of members.
"Investigations are ongoing."
